HORRY COUNTY, S.C. (WBTW) — Horry-Georgetown Technical College announced Monday that it has started its search for the next president to replace Dr. Marilyn “Murph” Fore.
The new president will replace Dr. Fore, who will retire at the end of July. She served as HGTC’s president since 2017, but she started with HGTC as a faculty member.
Dr. Fore told News13 in April that when she first got to HGTC, there were only 500 students and a handful of programs at the Conway campus. Today, there are 13,000 students in more than 80 programs on three different campuses along the Grand Strand.
The Association of Community College Trustees has been selected to assist the college with the search process to help develop the presidential profile, recruit highly competitive candidates, and work extensively with the college and the area commission.
To help develop a presidential profile, the college created a brief electronic survey that the entire college community is encouraged to complete. Surveys are asked to be completed no later than 4 p.m. Friday, June 19.
The ACCT has conducted over 750 community college searches and works to strengthen community college governance through education and advocacy.
The college said Monday that the presidential search committee is being finalized, and the membership will be shared in an upcoming progress report.
All final presidential candidates will participate in open forums at HGTC, and they will interview with the area commission. The open forums are currently planned to take place in September. Dates, times, and locations will be released once they are confirmed, and all students, staff, and community members will be invited to attend.
Count on News13 for updates as the HGTC presidential search continues.
