Presidential Search – Western Iowa Tech Community College: New President Announced

Western Iowa Tech Community College is pleased to announce that Dr. Terry Lindsay has been selected to serve as the College’s next President. He is expected to assume the role on Monday, July 6, 2026, as the College begins its next chapter of growth and service to the region.

Dr. Lindsay brings 32 years of experience in higher education, including 13 years in executive leadership. His background spans public and private institutions, two-year and four-year colleges, and includes experience at Hispanic-Serving Institutions (HSIs) and Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs). Most recently, he served as Vice President for Student Affairs at Albany State University in Albany, Georgia, for nearly six years.

As a first-generation high school and college graduate, Dr. Lindsay understands the life-changing impact of education. His leadership is grounded in creating supportive, student-centered environments that help individuals reach their full potential.

Throughout his career, Dr. Lindsay has led efforts in workforce training, community engagement, strategic planning, student success, enrollment growth, and academic program development. His experience also includes financial management, fundraising, and grant development. He has worked closely with partners to strengthen pathways from high school to college, expand opportunities for adult learners, and support student achievement.

Prior to Albany State University, Dr. Lindsay served as Vice President for Student Affairs and Campus Life and as an Associate Professor of Leadership at Paul Smith’s College in New York. His experience also includes leadership roles at North Park University in Chicago, Harper College, Iowa Wesleyan University, Olivet College, and the College of the Holy Cross. In addition to his administrative work, he has taught undergraduate courses and contributed to doctoral education through dissertation committees.

Dr. Lindsay is actively engaged in community service. He serves on the Board of Directors for the Albany Area Chamber of Commerce and the United Way of Southwest Georgia. He previously served as an elected member of the Community Consolidated School District #62 Board of Education in Des Plaines, Illinois.

He holds a bachelor’s degree in African American Studies and a master’s degree in college counseling and student personnel from the State University of New York at Buffalo. He earned his Doctor of Education in Educational Leadership, with a focus on Higher Education Administration, from Argosy University in Schaumburg, Illinois. He is also a member of Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Inc.

Dr. Lindsay and his wife, Khalilah, have six children.
